Your Daily Tarot Reading

The Chariot

Your Daily Tarot Reading: The Chariot:

A figure clad in armor stands before us, within a chariot that is being pulled by two sphinxes.

About the figure’s head are stars and the canopy overhead is also bejeweled with stars.

The Chariot falls under the influence of the astrological sign of Cancer and at its root is emotional security.

This is another tarot layouts card that has a lot going on.

Notice how the sphinxes are not tied by reins so they are not being directly controlled and nor do they appear from our vantage point to be connected to the chariot.

If this is a symbol that shows up in your daily tarot reading it means you are looking at unseen forces and in this case that of the emotions and emotional stability.

On an outer, mundane level, this card can represent the home and sometimes a vehicle, depending on the other cards in a reading.

What is evident here is movement in stability. This is further demonstrated by the symbol on the shield at the front of the chariot.

Below the winged disc that may well be the Moon (ruling Cancer as it does), we see what looks very much like a spinning top. The top can only stand up if it is spinning with enough speed to remain stable.

Being the chariot, we can see what looks like a walled city. Consequently, this daily tarot reading symbol also relates to leaving home, moving home and growing up emotionally.

7 The Chariot
We are required to leave the security of the past behind (whether it was pleasant or not) and to seek the unknown and new horizons. And all in the knowledge that journey is undertaken under guidance and protection.

The black and white sphinxes are like negative images of one another, an indication that we also need to pay careful attention to what appears and what is.

We need to ensure that we respond to what is actually going on around us and not just to what we are feeling within and possibly projecting on the world around us.

The armor of the central figure reinforces the lunar influence and suggests the need to act in the light of experience.

Could this be character armor that we need to free ourselves from in order to break free from past conditioning?

Equally, are there past experiences that we are nit learning from and are repeating without any real awareness?

There are other, more subtle symbols in this daily tarot reading card, which are also worth considering.

See how the rod or wand of Personal Will rests in the right hand-traditionally seen as the active hand.

Might this wand also be the wand of The Magician now being taken forth into the mundane aspects and situations of our lives?

Note too the belt and girdle that the figure is wearing.

The symbols etched there appear to relate to astrology, hinting that the matter at hand is one of working with time and tide, of aligning with cycles of experience that are outside our simple wants and needs.
