Tarot Card Meanings- For The Major Arcana Part 2
Tarot Card Meanings The Major Arcana of the Tarot – Part 2:In this second look at tarot card meanings- within the Major Arcana, we turn our attention to the journey from the Hanged Man to the final card of The World.
As we continue our journey it is important to remember at all times that we are dealing with the world of symbolism, enabling our own subconscious to tap into universal wisdom through the medium of symbolic representation, images, intuition and association. So we resume the path with
The Hanged Man,
where conscious self-sacrifice to achieve a higher goal such as service, the attainment of wisdom or even the repayment of a karmic debt is shown.
Death
follows this card because here we must become aware of the inevitability of change and that greater forces than just our will and our ego shape aspects of our lives.
In Temperance
Temperance we come to appreciate the importance both of timing and of being fully present in whatever situations we find ourselves.
The Devil
The Devil card is a caution to liberate ourselves before we seek to liberate others. In order to be free we must take off our own chains, whether they link us to unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors or situations and people that belong to the past. This can be a fearful time until we realize that we are both jailor and prisoner. After this liberation there is the danger of pride, of assuming that we have all the answers and no longer need to seek higher knowledge and truth. Very often, life redresses this imbalance for us, through The Tower!
With
The Star
we begin to share what we have accumulated, from a position of service and equilibrium. This renders us clear to receive what is our due. While we may have worked on those aspects of ourselves that we are consciously aware of, in The Moon we come face to face with the subconscious and all its hidden treasures and challenges. By now we have learned that the middle way is the way of discernment that will lead us safely to true awareness.
As Tarot card meanings- continues we see
The Sun
heralds the achievement of all we have worked for, the end results of our sustained efforts.
As we stand in the full light of awareness, we face what could be called the final transition. We need to see the world as it truly is and not just as an extension our projections, experience and belief systems. In the card of
Judgement
we respond to that higher call which elevates us beyond earthly understanding. For some this is a frightening time and for others it has been eagerly awaited, but for all it is a necessary step on the soul’s journey.
Until we answer a higher call and raise our consciousness, we cannot fully reclaim our spiritual heritage.
The World
shows us that in order to fully serve the Cosmos, we must become fully realized, spiritual adults, capable of accepting self-responsibility and strong enough to accept the responsibility of the path of service.
