I have a feeling that the block, or wall, to progress might be in the trying. My suggestion is just be who you want to be and respond as naturally as you can to any given situation. Trying seems to imply an effort to divert away from the underlying course of ones spiritual progression. Remember, this isn't a race. Things will happen when they happen. Just be the best person you can be and that will always be enough.
